Classroom Economy!! A great opportunity to share financial literacy and community development/participation with students. The classroom economy can be magical - teachers can build a positive classroom environment, AND students get to practice real-world skills in the process. Teaching in an underserved community, I see the importance of providing my students the tools they need to succeed in today's world, and many aren't learning smart money moves at home. Now, I could knock two birds out with one stone- effectively engage my students in classroom routines and teach financial literacy in a fun and practical way.

A CLASSROOM ECONOMY GOALS

*Educators to maintain to Classroom management by:

-increased student attendance

-reinforcing positive behavior

-target specific actions

-increase student responsibility

-create a positive classroom environment

-increased student excitement for school

*Financial literacy: Students get to practice real-world skills by having class jobs, paying bills, and a saving/purchasing items in the classroom store.

While this is a great way to allow students to achieve the above goals, a Classroom Economy takes money to set up and fund. The students need to be able to actually purchase items with the money they make each week for completing their 'jobs'.
