It's Time to ROCK and Roll and DIG Deeper!
McClave Elementary School

McClave, CO

Amount Requested: $ 1,150

Donation Amount: $ 1,150

Help my students dig deeper, explore, and expand their knowledge of earth's geology and prehistoric past. Let's build excitement with hands on learning while engaging all students.

The funds I am requesting will provide students with more knowledge, build excitement, and provide hands on learning about the earth's geology and prehistoric past. One of the items I am requesting is a model of the earth showing the different layers. This will help students gain a better perspective of the earth's layers. Non-fiction books will help students learn facts and obtain information while reading and looking at pictures. I have also requested numerous hands on learning activities to promote excitement and growth while students are engaged in learning.

Some of my intended outcomes are students will identify key minerals in the earth, students will identify and describe the three types of rocks, students will explain how fossils provide information about the history of the earth, students will review how paleontologists and fossils are related, students will explain how we know about dinosaurs, students will sort and classify rocks and minerals, students will use their five senses to describe rocks and minerals, students will compare rocks, minerals, and fossils, students will conduct experiments with rocks and minerals, and students will gain a better understanding of the earth's geology and prehistoric past.

I hope to impact the students I work with to build excitement about geology and prehistoric past. Hopefully these activities will engage all students and promote inquiry as they use the hands on materials. I want students to want to learn more and to think of themselves as scientists and how they can make a difference and impact the world making earth a better place. I also want students to have a reason they want to come to school. I feel when students are able to have a buy and take ownership in learning more learning takes place.
