LEGO Education Sets for Gifted and Talented Students enriches the educational experience, encourages a passion for learning, and equips students with skills that extend beyond the classroom.

I am requesting funds to purchase two LEGO Education Spike Sets for my Gifted and Talented Classroom. From the LEGO website they state that "SPIKE Prime helps students learn the essential STEAM and 21st century skills needed to become the innovative minds of tomorrow... while having fun!" My students in grades 5-8 will have the opportunity to learn this program and then I am hoping to build a team that can compete. I was able to do this 8 years ago with two different groups of students using the original LEGO sets. Since then, this program has become obsolete and is not compatible with the chromebooks. Spike LEGO would be compatible and is consistent with new technology.

My school is a Title One School with a free and reduced lunch rate at 79%. Our Gifted and Talented Department does a yearly breakfast fundraiser to support programming and field trips for our gifted students. We do not have the budget for the LEGO Education or programs that help connect our students to the latest technology. This grant would be so appreciated and beneficial.
