VIP School Board Experience

Get ready for your Mason City Schools VIP EXPERIENCE with behind the scenes activities to prepare for a Board of Education Meeting YOU or YOUR STUDENT will run! You will get a VIP tour of your favorite facility and talk with people you want to meet! You, or the student you select, will see your school district from a completely new view.

As VIP, you will select a date (from a list of options) and participate in activities with a board member. Here are a couple of possible experiences your day may include:

• Attend a football game with a Board Member and watch the game from the field/ press box.
• Honor a staff member with an award for outstanding performance.
• Enjoy lunch with the Board President and Superintendent to prepare for the next scheduled Board meeting.
• Attend a work session with the Board to discuss current hot topics in the school district.
• Sit up front and be there to see what it takes to run a REAL Board meeting in public session.
• Take home a framed picture of yourself, gavel in hand, to remember your experience and decide if YOU might want to run for public office!
