Lyrical sensibilities and humor cultivated from the time Rodney Hatfield, aka Art Snake (a humorous play on the phrase "art for art's sake"), spent as a club musician are evident in his work as a painter. In 1995 Wyatt Gragg was diagnosed with the first of three meningiomas, a benign tumor on the left side, or executive side, of his brain. The result was damage to math skills, some decision making, and short-term memory problems. He had to say goodbye to the security of the corporate world of teaching and sales. The good news was that the right brain flourished as it compensated, yes, that theory is real, and Wyatt Gragg says he's been a very happy and fortunate artist ever since.

Shohei Katayama is a Japanese American artist who explores the space between light and dark, life and death, beauty and danger, nature and man. This watercolor was executed when Jim Cantrell was researching for a series of Bluegrass musicians - Bill Monroe in particular. Cantrell's main concern for his work is the design and composition.

Though his student years coincided with the rise of Abstract Expressionism as the most prominent style of American painting, Jim Cantrell was always interested in representing people, still lifes and cityscapes. While his work is realistic rather than abstract, his interest in depicting his subjects goes beyond the intellectual realism of Photorealism. There is an emotional interest evident in his portraits and even his still lifes that goes beyond the unsentimental paintings that can often result from too intently focusing on realism.

Tom Cannady is drawn to images that depict a sense of humor, irony or sexuality that is at odds with the simple nostalgic memory many people have of the mid 20th century. The vehicles in Tom Cannady's paintings readily identify the era depicted. Earlier works focused solely on the vehicle but now there are additional characters within the composition.

"Cascade", attempts to capture the fluid movement and energy of cascading water, as well as the sense of peacefulness and tranquility that can be found in their flow - constantly moving forward, never stopping or staying still.

Life is full of twists and turns, and ups and downs. The constant push and pull of different forces can be tumultuous at times with unexpected challenges and obstacles arising. But just as a river eventually finds its way to the sea by carving through landscapes, we can be flexible and adaptable to take control of our own journey, and shape it to fit our own unique path to a place of peace and understanding.
