Tucked into the upscale Dr. Phillips neighborhood of Orlando, Orange Tree Golf Club has been Central Florida's "hidden gem" for over five decades, and a guest round here feels like stepping into a quieter, more discerning corner of the city's golf scene. Designed in 1972 by the prolific Joe Lee - the architect behind Doral's Blue Monster, Cog Hill, and Bay Hill - the family-owned, private 7,036-yard championship layout winds through tight, tree-lined corridors of moss-draped oaks, citrus trees, and tropical plantings, with deep bunkers, smartly placed water, and famously fast, true bentgrass-style greens. The club serves as a U.S. Open Local Qualifier and a Florida State Senior Open Qualifying site, and is best known for "The Loop" - its dramatic three-hole finishing stretch (#16-17-18) widely regarded as among the best closing sequences in the entire state of Florida. A peak-season tee time here is the kind of insider Orlando golf experience members rarely share with guests.
