Tucked into 140 rolling acres in Ambler, just north of Philadelphia, Squires Golf Club is an intimate, members-first retreat built around one founding ideal: pure golf, played for the love of the game. The course was designed by George Fazio - the U.S. Open contender turned acclaimed architect - with a young Tom Fazio assisting early in his career, and opened for play in 1964. True to founder Herman Watkins' vision of "the finest golf course, a small but comfortable clubhouse, and a place where a man is restricted only by the rules of the game," Squires has remained deliberately understated and uncrowded for more than six decades. The par-70 layout winds through mature stands of hardwoods and evergreens, with classic Fazio bunkering, subtle elevation changes, and quietly demanding greens that reward precise iron play. With caddies available and a welcoming, golf-first culture, a guest round here is a genuinely rare and private Philadelphia-area experience.
