Photographer: John C. Bauer
January Storm has been printed on acid-free, archival quality Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 paper (100% cotton) for age resistance and pictorial depth. This double-matted image measures 24 x 36 inches
During the early morning hours on the 6th of January, 2023, a west-northwest swell generated by a "bomb cyclone" battered the Ocean Beach pier. A bomb cyclone is a low-pressure system that rapidly intensifies into a huge storm. In this case, resulting in large swells and drenching rains ashore across the state. Surf across San Diego was 10-15 foot with an occasional 20-ft set.
Wave damage to the pier resulted in its closure until the 1st of July, 2023.
