BARKTOBER FEST WAS A SUCCESS! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
- Join us for the first Barktoberfest: A Howl-O-Ween Party, presented by the Humane Society of Utah and Subaru! On October 8th, 2023, from 10 am to 2 pm, we invite you to our HSU Facility grounds in Murray for a spooktacular celebration of fun and wagging tails.
- We'll kick off the event with a Halloween costume contest for dogs and their people and a Trick-n-Treat contest.
- Capture lasting memories at our family photo opportunity by The Photo Box Photography.

Admission and Photo Session
Barktober Fest, presented by Subaru, is this Sunday, October 8th from 10am - 2pm at the Humane Society of Utah, 4242 S 300 W! This spooktacular celebration promises fun for the entire family with Halloween carnival games and contests for humans and dogs, photo opportunities, a dog agility course, trick or treating and more!
Parking:
Barktober Fest will be held in the front parking lot at the Humane Society. Public parking will be available in the lot behind the Humane Society and at our neighbor, HUXWRK, 280 W Central Ave. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON 300 WEST/COMMERCE DRIVE.
Food & Drink:
Food trucks Lucky Slice Pizza and El Mini Taco will be on site as well as local craft beer sold from Salt Flats Brewery (alcohol only served to adults 21+ with valid ID). Rebel Paw Doggie Treat Truck will also be here to ensure your dog gets their fill of treats and belly rubs for the day! Outside food & drink is not permitted but you are welcome to bring treats for your dog.
Contests:
The Costume Contest will begin at 11:30 AM and the Trick Contest will happen immediately following. Get your furry friend ready to win some pawsome prizes! Costume contest categories:
- Best Duo or Group - Awarded to the most dynamic pet and guardian/family group with coordinated costumes.
- Scariest Combo - The spookiest pet and family costume ensemble.
- Most Creative - The family and pet with the most unique and imaginative theme.
Finally:
You do not need a printed ticket for this event! We will have all pre-registered ticket information and it will be a paperless check-in. The Humane Society of Utah will not have change on site, credit card or contactless payments are preferred. Please be sure to read all of the event rules below!
Each adult (18+) ticket includes admission for one person and one dog. Children under 18 are free.
- You do not need a printed ticket. We have all pre-registered ticket information, and it will be a paperless check-in. You will provide your name at check-in to gain entrance to the event. Please have your ticket confirmation email ready as a back-up.
- We reserve the right to revoke admission to the event if you are unwilling to follow the rules.
- By attending Barktoberfest you and your guests voluntarily assume any and all risks and agree to not hold The Utah Humane Society and any of its affiliates, employees, contractors, volunteers, or agents liable for any illness, injury, and/or death that may occur.
- No refunds will be issued. You may transfer your ticket to somebody else. Please contact [email protected] for help with a transfer. If you are unable to attend your ticket will be considered a donation.
- Contactless payment/credit cards are preferred. We will not have change on site.
General Event Rules:
- Alcohol will NOT be redeemable without a valid ID.
- You must show your ID to get a wristband at check-in.
- Any children attending the event must be accompanied by an adult.
- No outside food or alcohol is permitted inside the event.
- Bags/backpacks being brought to the event may be inspected. You are welcome to bring dog treats for your dog.
Dog Rules:
- Please use good judgment regarding your dog's temperament so that this event will be safe and enjoyable for everyone.
- Utah Humane Society reserves the right to refuse entry to any dog whose behavior could be dangerous to others.
- Retractable leashes, e-collars, shock, prongs, or choke collars will NOT be allowed for safety reasons.
- Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
- Leashes can not be more than six feet in length.
- If dogs are not wearing the appropriate leash or collar, some will be available at check-in.
- Dogs not wearing the appropriate leash or collar will not be allowed into the event.
- Dogs are not permitted to be left in vehicles unattended under any circumstances.
- Participating dogs must be currently licensed with proof of Parvo and Rabies vaccinations.
- You do not need to bring proof with you; if an incident occurs, you must be able to produce proof in a reasonable amount of time.
- Female dogs in heat are not permitted.
- Dogs younger than six months of age are not permitted.
- No animals other than dogs will be allowed at the event.
- Each dog must be handled by an adult.
