"Bending Bayous" is an art quilt inspired by Houston's bayous and a beautiful reminder to protect our local ecology. The green to blue color shift perfectly supports the inspiration behind the shapes: the bayous of Houston that curve in between the buildings and trees. The 22 bayou systems and waterways that wind through the greater Houston region are a defining and essential resource for our region. They support beautiful, natural ecosystems, provide opportunities for recreation, and remain a vital artery for flood control.
The piecing was completed by 40 Houston Modern Quilt Guide members using patterns meticulously created by Jamie. The top was assembled by Stephanie Glass Taylor. The quilting is a "Waves and Pearls" design by Wasatch Quilting and was completed by Debbie Layton. The binding was expertly applied by Jandi Dean.
