ALLEGRA HANGEN AND ISRAEL GONZALEZ are multimedia artists living between Omaha, NE and Mexico City.

Allegra's work in experimental film, photography, and sculpture explores themes of cultural memory, the politics of architecture and intimate spaces, mass media, language, and nostalgia. Allegra holds an MFA in Visual Arts (UNAM, Mexico City) and a BFA in Photography (Lesley University Art and Design, Cambridge, MA). Her work has been exhibited internationally in film festivals and group and solo exhibitions, including the 2022 Salina Biennial (Salina, KS), El Progreso Dura Para Siempre (Mexico City), EXPO 54 (Mexico City), A Pillar for Whom (Omaha), the Stephen D. Paine Scholarship Exhibition (Boston, MA), among others. She currently works as a curator and event programmer at the experimental film festival, ULTRAcinema, and is co-founder and residency director at Fortuna, a residency exchange program between Omaha and Mexico City.

Israel has training in Graphic Design from the Mexican University (2000-2004) and a Master's in Visual Communication (2005). He has experience in film production, interior design and architecture, a combination that made it easier for him to find his own aesthetic. Other important aspects of his artistic cosmology are his relationship to corn; with the pre-Hispanic god Tlaloc and with ultramarine blue. All of that connects him to his origins. In the same way the sun, the moon and the sea connect you with yourself. They manifest in his work from his unconscious and his desire to heal through a divine connection. His work has been institutionally exhibited in places such as: Contemporaine De L'art Mexicain, Gallery AU, Paris, France (2022); Biennale di Venezia, Fondazione Amadeo Modigliani, Venice, Italy (2021); Mexico of a Thousand Colors, Casa Decor, Madrid Spain (2021); Macrosalon, Semillero Purisima, Monterrey Mexico; (2021); Nail Movement, CDMX, Mexico (2021); El Camino del Sol, Union Space for Artists, CDMX, Mexico (2021); Design Week, CDMX, Mexico (2021); Latin Art Show, Cadena Gallery, USA, Chelsea New York (2019); among others.
