Omaha-based oil painter HANA BROCK explores the human connection to space by depicting realistic urban architecture. She uses artificial light as the "main character" in a scene that lacks any human presence. Her awards include 2021 Viewer's Choice, Nebraska Artist Biennial at Gallery 1516; 2019 Second Place, Art on the Oasis; 2019 Judges Choice, Art on the Oasis; 2018 1st Place in Painting, McCook Art Show; 2018 People's Choice, Nebraska Land Days; 2018 1st Place, Nebraska Land Days; 2017 Best of Show in Painting, McCook Art Show; and 2016 Judges Choice in Mixed Media, McCook Art Show. She was a Guest Speaker for Professional Studio Practices capstone class in 2023 and has been a Gallery Attendant at Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts since 2022. Before Bemis, Hana was a custom framer at Michaels. She has been painting commissions since 2018.
