Solo shows include the Sheldon Museum of Art, Lincoln, the Museum of Nebraska Art, Kearney, and the Kunstoffice, Berlin. A recipient of Nebraska Arts Fellowship Awards in 2007/2015, this Spring his works were shown internationally at Stockholm Auktionsverk, Hamburg, Festival du Dessin, Arles, and Pavillon Milchhof, Berlin. Bockelman earned a MFA in painting from UNL in 1997 and is a professor of art at Concordia University. "Bridging one's identity with place is related to the interrelationship between figure and ground and relates directly to my own process of abstract, image formation. I've been utilizing a loose, hexagonal diagram as a mapping device by stitching together disparate passages and unfinished zones - yet, the honeycomb alludes to an economy of means, of mutual reliance, and creative preservation".
