Concert Flutist, Mary Kay Robinson

Internationally acclaimed flutist and winner of numerous competitions, Mary Kay Robinson has risen to national prominence as a versatile musician, balancing roles as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician, teacher, coach, and artistic and executive leader in the arts. She has been a featured soloist at Severance Hall with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, the Southern Tier Symphony (NY), the Akron Symphony, the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, and the New Hampshire Music Festival Orchestra and is a frequent guest artist with the symphony orchestras of Chicago, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Portland, Vermont, Detroit, Kansas City, Toledo, and Cleveland. As a chamber musician, she has performed with musicians from Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Music from Angel Fire, ChamberFest Cleveland, New Hampshire Music Festival, Grand Teton Festival, Odenwald Festpiele, Cleveland Orchestra, and the Amici and Cavani Quartets. "…dazzling virtuosity…a hugely talented and exciting soloist," critics heralded her New York solo debut, where she performed two concerti on two different instruments on the same program.

Her leadership positions include Operations and Personnel- Boston Ballet, Director-Bascom Little Fund, Artistic Director-Panorámicos, Executive Director-Music from Angel Fire, and Interim Director-ChamberFest Cleveland. Ms. Robinson does consulting, development, and interim Leadership with organizations in transition.

She has served on the faculties of Franklin Pierce University, Case Western Reserve University, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the University of Akron, and Ithaca College teaching Chamber Music, Artist as Entrepreneur, Flute, and Piccolo. Her students include many competition winners and highly distinguished performers; she is a frequent clinician and competition judge.

Ms. Robinson founded the Greater Cleveland Flute Society and the prize-winning mixed chamber ensemble Panorámicos, whose three CDs have garnered international critical acclaim, "Top Pick of North America"-Gramophone. Ms. Robinson has commissioned, premiered, and recorded many new works featuring the Flute, Piccolo, and Alto Flute in solo and chamber capacities and mixed instrumentation chamber music with voice. She is the former Chair of the National Flute Association's Piccolo Committee.

Ms. Robinson was Artist in Residence at Banff Centre for the Arts (2019) Music in the 21st Century and is Certified in Executive Leadership through the University of Pennsylvania, National Arts Strategies, and Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management.
