Jane Erwin creates art in clay, metal and wood. Her major body of work is the vessel form in stoneware, created by slab construction and soda fired creating an atmosphere of translucent colors and textures. Her art is inspired by the landscapes once visited, as one observes the geographical references to the Southwest canyon lands and the Atlantic coast in the color and surface texture of her glazes. She was exposed to Southwest Indian ceramic art and pottery of the Anasazi while Curator of Media for the University Museum of Southern Illinois at Carbondale. A graduate of Kennesaw State University School of Art and Design, she completed her BFA in Ceramics. In 2021, she received a Fellowship at Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts and Sciences. Her ceramic vessels are exhibited in the Annual Juried Artists Collective Spartanburg in SC. 2019 - 2022. She supports the Georgia Lawyers for the Arts Annual Gala with her ceramic art. Jane is in the process of relocating her home and ceramic studio to New Bern, NC
