Eleanor Neal received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Eleanor has artwork in the Permanent Collection at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia. Exhibitions include the Sarah Ball Allis Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport with MOCA GA. A one-person exhibition in 2023 with September Gray Gallery. Works on Paper Fine Arts Show with September Gray Gallery in New York City. Also, the Atlanta Biennial, Of Care and Destruction, at the Contemporary Arts Center. Drawings and printmaking artworks explore abstraction and its connection to myths and Southern stories, where identity and nature intersect. Inspired by Spanish moss, water, and historical stories of powerful women. Inspiration comes from nature; Spanish moss which lives on the trees along the Georgia Sea Coast. I work with paper and non-traditional printmaking processes. I explore the landscape and the women of the South; how their spirit can carry off, through nature; plants, flowers, trees, to move, change, yet always searching for a place of permanence and empowerment. The selected artwork is from collected plants from Daufuskie Island South, Carolina. The home of the Gullah community. It is a place where remnants of Gullah Island life and culture endure.
