Helen DeRamus is a visual artist working in Metro Atlanta, Georgia. A native of Atlanta, she studied art in New York and New Jersey following graduation from Emory University. Words, sounds, and rhythms are influential in her painting. Reading poetry and listening to music are part of her daily practice. She uses her memories of the Southern landscape with an eye to the dramatic changes to be found there and continues her series, "Dwelling Places". You will often see bits and pieces of her landscape memory float through the paintings. Her work is represented in corporate, private, and public collections including Ventyx Corporation, Federal Home Loan Bank in Atlanta, Georgia, The Women's Center at Kennestone Hospital, Atlanta Women's Foundation, and Livingston College at Rutgers University. Her paintings are in the permanent collection of the Fulton County Arts Council in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2023 her paintings were recently exhibited in two group exhibitions at TEW Galleries. Helen's studio is in the Artisan Resource Center, Marietta, Georgia. She is represented by TEW Galleries in Atlanta, Georgia, Roan and Black Contemporary Gallery in Saugatuck, Michigan, and Robert Kent Galleries in Marietta, Georgia.
