No. 13 is a French Louis XV period beechwood settee en cabriolet from the mid-18th century, with cabriole legs and new upholstery. Born in France during the reign of King Louis XV 'Le Bien-Aimé' (the Beloved), this settee features a curved back flowing seamlessly into the arms that flank the seat, its upper rail discreetly adorned with two carved lovebirds. From a period focusing on comfort and delicate forms, this settee is raised on four cabriole legs, gently carved in low-relief on the front knees with petite flowers. The incurved scrolling arms embrace the black mohair wool fabric provided by Deborah Warren of DesignTex and upholstered by Markell's Upholstery. With its graceful Louis XV lines and lovely patina, this French 1740s settee will bring a graceful presence to any room.
