Time period: 1811-1837. This armless upholstered slipper chair might have been found behind closed doors in possibly a women's dressing room and used for Victorian women with tight corsets and wide petticoats who needed assistance with their shoes. The low-sitting chair with the wide, open design allowed them to sit in their petticoats as a maid knelt to put on their footwear. This beautiful chair has been beautifully restored in a great striped fabric by SilverState and the wood refinished in a dark stain.
