1961 Topps baseball card of Dodger Southpaws (Sandy Koufax and Johnny Podres), graded near mint.

Sanford "Sandy" Koufax (December 30, 1935-) was one of the most dominant pitchers of the 1960s, breaking a 58-year-old strikeout record set by Christy Mathewson in 1903, becoming not only the first pitcher to throw four no-hitters (including one perfect game), but also the first to win multiple Cy Young Awards. Sandy, nee Sanford Braun, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York where he excelled in basketball

John Joseph "Johnny" Podres (September 30, 1932 - January 13, 2008) won ten or more games in eight of his 15 years in the Majors, but is best known for his heroics in the 1955 World Series when, as a 23-year-old, he beat the Yankees 8-3 in Game 3 and shut them out 2-0 in Game 7 to help the Brooklyn Dodgers capture their first ever World Series title. He was named the first-ever World Series MVP in 1955 for his stellar performance.
