Madam Aisha Muhammed-Oyebode, Former First Daughter of Nigeria & Widow Advocate

Aisha Muhammed-Oyebode is a business leader, social sector expert, and human rights activist with over 20 years of development expertise, specializing in gender, youth, and inclusion. She is the CEO of the Murtala Muhammed Foundation, an independent NGO advocating for democratic and social reform on the African continent. Through the Foundation, she drives stakeholder-driven initiatives, focusing on education, capacity building, and disaster risk management, especially in the insurgency and terrorism-affected northeastern region of Nigeria. Aisha has also devoted her career to exploring thought leadership on the role of INGOs in Africa.

An entrepreneur, Aisha is Group Chair at Asset Management Group Limited (AMG), a real estate development firm, with diverse social initiatives She chairs the boards of Lekoil Limited, an Africa-focused energy company, and the NEEM Foundation, an organization devoted to safeguarding the welfare of communities in conflict zones. She is a member of the Harvard Kennedy School's Women's Leadership Board (WLB) of the Women and Public Policy Program (WAPPP), and the Global Development Council (GDC) of the Center for International Development CID. She serves as an advisor to the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), advisor and country expert to the University of Pennsylvania Law Global Women's Leadership Project and is a co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Movement.

Aisha holds a Ph.D.in Law from SOAS University of London, an LLM in Public International Law from King's College, University of London, and an MBA in Finance from Imperial College, University of London. She joined the Nigerian Bar in 1989 and is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. A published author, her recent academic publications include chapters on SDG 1 "No Poverty" and SDG 5 "Gender Equality" published by Routledge 2021. She is also the author of "The Stolen Daughters of Chibok", published by PowerHouse Books 2022.
