"Can't believe I painted this painting with my hands in a fist while trying to hold a paintbrush between my fingers.

You see, after I was severely burned on my face, neck, chest, arms and hands in a lab accident, I lost my ability to use both of my hands and ended up losing my eyesight completely. The good news is my hands have since healed but my eyesight is still impaired.

I felt so trapped being in a dark world, I just wanted an outlet where I could express myself and that's when I decided I wanted to try painting. Every time I painted, I felt apart of me came alive again.

Keep in mind, I only started painting after losing my eyesight and my hands were in a fist. My first painting was created with my knuckles.

In life we will face many challenges and it is up to us to decide how we face those challenges. Some will be difficult to overcome and others will be less challenging. With faith, belief and trust you can overcome any obstacle. Never give up. You have have things waiting for you." - Shellyann Siddoo

About the Artist:

Shellyann Siddoo is a visually impaired, self-taught, Toronto, Canada based artist and Motivational Speaker. After losing her eyesight in lab accident at the tender age of twenty-four, she uses art as a medium to inspire others to know that everything is possible.

Shellyann's paintings are unique and one of a kind. She uses modelling paste which gives her paintings it's unique three dimensional effect.

Her paintings will add warmth and love in any room in your home and also, Shellyann has inspired thousands through her motivational talks.

Shellyann's artwork was recently featured in the inspirational movie, Unsinkable. Also, she spoke about her paintings on the global platform TedX and shared her art journey on numerous tv shows, podcasts, webinars, radio shows, online conferences, events, schools, just to name a few.
