When my father saw this painting, he cried.

I grew up in the middle of nowhere in Or. Mindoro, Philippines where electricity was a luxury beyond our reach. I learned to read with light coming from a repurposed bottle of Pepsi that my father made into a gas lamp. My family almost had nothing. But I'm lucky to have my father, a teacher. Because of him, I got fond of learning that to this day fuels my passion for learning just about anything. I have made it a part of my mission to help illuminate the power of finding joy in learning to change lives as it has changed mine and this is a common theme in my art. It is the light that I will always carry with me. It is the light in this painting that I hope you see.

Creating art for me is like articulating the many whys of life through colors that stand out, textures that intrigue, and figures that tell a story. My artistic pursuit is to create artworks that look strange yet beautiful at a distance with vibrant colors that catch the eye and imperfect but much more beautiful upon closer inspection.
