About the Artist

For the last few months, I have been working with representational figures in the digital realms, and last year I started focusing on simplicity to view the figure form in a position of strength. In the background, I coined a minimalistic yet powerful abstraction from Rothko's. Basic shapes and colors have become a way of exploring the complexity of the individual. Giacometti and Venus de Milo were my inspiration to recreate the figure in an elongated state, without arms or details. The image seen is the physical self, which is important in that it reflects a person's identity, status, culture, history, family, and life in general. The figure is the complexity of that self, expanding beyond the confines of corporeal existence.

IJWBAA is Pao, aka Paul Hafalla. He is a digital artist and a painter based in Pangasinan, Philippines. His art is inspired by the arts of Rothko (the background), Giacometti (an elongated figure), and Venus de Milo (an armless figure). Through expressive figurative art, his imagery tackles the physical self. He uses digital and traditional media to reflect a person's identity, status, culture, history, family, and life in general.
