My body of work combines my two deepest loves, photography and water.

A great sense of peace envelops me when I dip my head below the surface. In that moment, any physical or emotional stress gives way to an exhilarating sense of freedom. Instantly, my creative expressions begin to move from ideas about art to art itself.

I'm a pretty practical person, and my work reflects that. I don't add things in post-processing of photos. Everything in an image exists in real life, just as the viewer sees them. I shoot all my images underwater in the same water as my subjects. We are typically holding our breaths when we dive into a set I've created just for them. I often find myself looking to David LaChapelle for inspiration. His vision above water aligns strongly with mine underneath: bold colors, exaggerated makeup and playful costumery - whoosh, I love it!

When you're done looking at my pieces, I hope you've escaped time for just a moment - perhaps slipping into your inner child when your imagination in a swimming pool had no boundaries. The images are every bit a part of me: from a challenging childhood to a successful photography career to a limitless, uncharted future. I hope my work reminds us to take time to look beyond that surface. You don't have to hold your breath when you look at my work; you just have to dive in.
