The photos were taken during the manifestations held in Bologna, Torin, and Rome. All the pictures are copyrighted to Sajedeh Jalali, the photographer.

These images represent what Iranians are aiming for, and what their message to the world is. During many demonstrations, the pictures of the victims, or prisoners of the Islamic Republic are the main focus of the protestors. Ukraine and the war initiated by Russia is also another vital concern throughout the manifestations, as Iranians are opposing the fact that the regime is supporting Putin by sending drones to kill innocent Ukrainians. The images also portray the overwhelming feelings of a nation, bombarded with horrifying news every day, concerned about family and friends, yet still fighting for freedom. The revolution is still going on in Iran, and the nation is dedicated to overthrowing a dictatorship that has entangled its governance with violence and brutality. Iranian artists in the diaspora now have a responsibility of visualizing the suppression and cruelty of this regime to put the daily fight of Iranians into perspective.

About the photographer:

My name is Saji, am 28 and from Iran. I have been doing photography for more than six years, with a mixture of portrait and street photography. I have been living outside of Iran for more than 5 years now, in various countries such as Turkey, Italy, and Switzerland. Throughout these exiled years, teaching English and art have been inseparable parts of my life, and a way of surviving outside of the home. Recently, mixing music and DJing have also been added to the artistic side of my life, and new creative challenges have appeared along with it.

As in academic aspects, I studied Social Science for my bachelor's in Iran, at the National University of Iran called Shahid Beheshti University, and for my post-graduate, I graduated from International Cooperation on Protection of Human Rights at the University of Bologna with one Erasmus year at the University of Zurich. Human Rights activities are a crucial part of my life, as my origin country lacks respect for it to a huge extent.

There are also some volunteer works in my resume, such as mentoring for QueerAmnesty in Zurich and doing civil work in Bologna for demonstrations about Iran. The photos sent to the project are taken throughout these demonstrations, some in other cities. Taking pictures and portraying a political message via Art is what I am aiming for, as a way of merging my skills to turn them into a fruitful action with a cause. That is why, throughout the ongoing revolution of Mahsa, my camera is aiming to picture the fight of Iranians in the diaspora calling many messages to the world alongside intensifying the fight of my nation inside of Iran., however I can.
