I was inspired to do this piece of work during a public fundraiser " Hands across America" in 1986.

Then in 1987, I participated in the Harmonic Convergence - the world's first synchronized global peace meditation event. I was so moved by the intention of people from around the world, gathering together, to participate in this experience, in hopes of making a better world for all.

So, I took the original work and expanded on the artwork to embrace a larger forum. I created the different colored skin to exemplify the concept of unity and oneness, while forming a heart shape with those hands around the world. I made the hands look more childlike to represent our innocence's, hopes, dreams, which I felt those who were participating that day, like me, were all about that. The abstract design on top is like a subliminal message of hope, that the " world will win" when we become globally harmonious.

Years later I saw a quote by Mahatma Gandhi - Love is the strongest force the world possesses. I would like to believe that that day and this picture, exemplifies those words.
