Artist Statement:

I am an abstract expressionist. As such, what I think a painting depicts is irrelevant; what is important is what the viewer sees and feels when taking in the artwork.

For the purposes of this submission, I can offer one interpretation: the pieces reflect the diversity of Houston, with each color representing a difference race, ethnicity, socioeconomic level, religion, gender, orientation, etc. A monochromatic piece would be so boring, but when the myriad of colors are intertwined, contrasted, and among the others, a whole new image emerges, much more interesting and vibrant the individual hues alone. That's what makes Houston so great and why I love Houston.

Also, these pieces were painted while I listened exclusively to Houston's Lizzo, Conroe's Parker McCollum, and Astros games, so they are definitely inspired by Houston.
