Red Oak Live Sawn Characteristics

• Unique cut that incorporates all the natural aspects of the tree with minimal waste, as a result of straight cutting select logs from outside diameter through the heartwood.
• Varying grain from plain sawn cathedral grain, to rift sawn and the most spectacular quarter sawn throughout each board.
• The wider the plank the more these unique characteristics are displayed.
• The narrower widths have a unique mix of plainsawn and rift & quarter sawn. They don't have the classic plain sawn in the center like the wider planks. Often these are a result of boards we had to rip in half. The end results create a very unique and affordable flooring option.
• Very stable floor due to high percentage of quarter sawn.
• Great option for wide plank.
• Very versatile in design - from rustic to traditional and even modern homes.
• Pennsylvania red oak has warm brown and red undertones.
• Stains well to achieve a wide variety of color.
• Tight growth rings due to Northern Appalachian lumber.
