ARTIST BIO

DOUGLAS M. KAUFFMAN AKA. BISCOTTI BOY

Born in 1964 and raised in York, PA by a conservative family. As a high school student, I wanted to attend art school, but was told to play it safe and find a career that could "support" me, the whole "starving artist" mind set. I chose to attend the Culinary Institute of America and chose food to use my creative energy and to create "art for the mouth and soul". Through the years, I have always come back to some form of visual arts. As I get older, I have found myself wanting to create with mixed mediums as opposed to food and create "art for the eyes and the soul". When I am in my studio, I lose myself in the colors, textures and possibilities, much like the way I feel when in my kitchen.

I find myself drawn to intense color, textures and utilizing found objects in my pieces. I am ever evolving and changing things up in my style and technique.

I have entered pieces to the "ONE EARTH" show in 2022. As well as a chair for the "CHAIRITY" auction, which sold, for the ART IN RESIDANCE GALA fundraiser.

My submission for ART WITH HEART 2023 is a triptych, each canvas measuring 6" x 6" titled NIGHT FIRE. Its inspiration was sitting at a firepit one evening and watching as the fire, sparks and smoke lifted toward the dark night sky with squinted eyes.
