ARTIST BIO

A graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a degree in Fashion and Merchandise Illustration, I entered the professional art world just as it was changing from hand produced art to digitally produced images.

Adapting to these changes I used my illustration skills in package design for Packaging Corp. of America in Lancaster, PA, as Christmas card illustrations published by Courage Cards and for numerous handmade cards sold in local shops. For 20 years I designed needle crafts that were licensed and published by Dimensions-Crafts, Janlynn, Better Homes and Gardens and several stitchery magazines. For the past 15 years I have been developing my skills in fine art.

My best known work of fine art, "Current Color - a year on the river," is a body of fifty-three small acrylic paintings of the Susquehanna River. I painted the river once a week for a year from sites along a ninety mile stretch of the river from Dauphin, PA to Havre de Grace, MD. Throughout the project I wrote a weekly journal introspective to document the creation of the works and what I was learning through the process. When completed the Current Color series and journal introspective together had quite a story to tell since that year also held the tragic loss of both our daughter and son-in-law to heroine use.

Current Color has since become a unique vehicle for sharing with others how the healing power of nature's beauty and art-making taught me much and gently carried me through the pain of so great a loss.

WITF, our local public television station, recorded the story for their series "Mind Matters," a video archive of talks on many subjects, in addition I often have the opportunity to share the story with area clubs and organizations.

For several years I showed and sold my works at Building Character artist market in Lancaster, PA as well as many local shops, galleries and the Columbia Crossing building at Riverfront park in Columbia, PA. More recently I enjoyed participating in "Song for Autumn", a juried show by Marietta Art Alive, and being one of several "artists in residence" creating work live during Creative York's annual fundraiser. The works were bid on and sold that night. Currently my works are for sale at Kindred Collection, 452 Locust St., Columbia, PA, and Pardon My French, 33 N. Beaver Street, York, PA.
