Frank V. Szasz (1925-1995) was a Hungarian-American portrait painter known for his realistic depictions of notable figures, including four U.S. presidents, Albert Einstein, and Mother Teresa. Born in Budapest, Szasz survived World War II, working in the resistance before being captured by the Russians and sent to a Siberian camp, from which he eventually escaped.
After the Hungarian Revolution, he emigrated to the U.S., where he joined Hallmark Cards and taught at the Kansas City Art Institute. Though acclaimed, Szasz preferred impressionism but painted realistic portraits for financial reasons. He spent his final years in Leawood, Kansas.
