Marie Bannerot McInerney is a multidisciplinary studio artist and educator whose installations and works in concrete, silk, handmade paper, and canvas explore human agency within ecological systems, mystical thinking, and natural phenomena. A 2018 Charlotte Street Artist Award Fellow, she has participated in residencies at Studios Inc and The Luminary.
McInerney has exhibited both nationally and internationally, including at the Bellevue Arts Museum, Mildred Lane Kemper Museum, Friedrich Schiller University, and Han Tianheng Art Museum Shanghai, with solo exhibitions at The Tarble Arts Center, PLUG Projects, and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. She co-authored an essay in Probing the Skin: Cultural Representations of our Contact Zone and received a Cultural Exchange Grant from the U.S. Embassy in Berlin.
Raised in Houston, TX, she earned a BFA at the Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA at Washington University in Saint Louis. McInerney is a professor at the Kansas City Art Institute and serves on the board of Hand Papermaking Magazine.
