Chris LaValley views creating as both a form of meditation and work, relying primarily on intuition and allowing each piece to guide the next step. Her focus centers on achieving a sense of equilibrium in mark, color, layering, and composition. She sees her work as a journey, leaving the interpretation-whether meditative, spiritual, or contemplative-up to the viewer. LaValley's current work is deeply influenced by his interest in the energy of life, sacred geometry, and symbolism. She strives to transform space by creating rhythmic relationships and portraying her visions and observations. Much of the imagery emerges during meditation or in dreams. She works in multiple layers of color, generating transparency and depth with a variety of textures. For LaValley, form and color hold symbolic significance, representing diverse elements. Her artistic goal is to create a visual journey for the viewer.
