Molly Routhieaux Braley ('87 Ceramics)
Flint Hills Landscape #2
Stoneware Clay, Glaze
15" x 11" x 5"
2021
Molly Routhieaux Braley is visual artist currently working in the medium of ceramics and atmospheric firing techniques as a vehicle to investigate the concept of vessel as landscape. Working with clay, she creates forms that reveal and capture light, shadow, weight of mass, and gravity to allude to a sense of remembered places. Molly is a professional gardener and naturalist who in daily life has developed a working understanding of and relationship with the
land, plants, natural environments and weather. All these honed skills are integral to her exploration of her clay form with the potential to branch into other materials to include wood, fiber, plant
materials. She will be exploring these ideas further as an Artist in Residence at The Anderson Ranch Art Center in Snowmass, Colorado, in Spring 2025.
