Cathy was born and grew up in the Southern Illinois town of Eldorado. She graduated high school at Monticello Preparatory School in Godfrey, Illinois. From there she entered The Kansas City Art Institute, majored in painting and printmaking and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Professionally she was a Graphic Designer and Art Director for print publications and art studios. Cathy was also a free-lance commercial artist, a real estate home stager and a realtor. Answering the call of fundraising, Cathy joined several philanthropic organizations and served on their boards. However closest to her heart were the three Kansas City Art Institute auxiliaries, with the foremost being The Fireside Committee, because it raises money for student scholarships, her passion. She remembered her fellow students who greatly struggled financially while attending college. (Currently well over 95% of the KCAl students rely on financial assistance of some kind.) She had the pleasure of serving as Fireside's President from 2012-2014. Cathy had the privilege of serving on The Kansas City Art Institute Board of Trustees for 10 years.
