About the Artist

Valadez grew-up in the Pilsen (la dieciocho) neighborhood where he painted his first murals, inspired by the rich tradition of Mexican muralists and artists Frida Kahlo and William Walker. He studied art and learned-by-doing as an assistant with various local muralists. Valadez traces his family's Chicago roots to his grandfather who immigrated here from Mexico in the 1920's. He is grateful to his father and grandfather who encouraged and influenced his passionate pursuit of art.

See the link below from an article (9/8/2021) in the McKinely Park News for information about Mr. Valadez's commissioned art works at the First Lutheran Church of the Trinity in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood. https://mckinleypark.news/news/2020-message-meets-necessity-in-the-artwork-of-robert-valadez
