Tyler Hays (b. 1968) is an artist and designer born and raised in rural northeast Oregon. Though he considers himself a painter first, he is also an obsessive builder, engineer, and inventor. He has worked in a broad expanse of mediums, from clothing and architecture to furniture, music, ceramics, and food. The foundation of his process is the understanding of the materials, science, and craft of a medium, and observing the alchemy and poetry while coaxing those things together into objects. He received a BFA in painting from the University of Oregon.
