Ask an Astronaut Anything Session with Barbara Morgan!

Make your next business or family & friends gathering an out-of-this-world experience with an intimate, 60-minute virtual fireside chat with former NASA astronaut Barbara Morgan. Up to seven guests can join you for this up-close-and-personal "Ask an Astronaut Anything!"
Barbara and her Space Shuttle Endeavour crewmates launched in 2007 on a two-week, 5.3-million-mile mission to help construct the International Space Station. Their mission began with worrisome damage to the spacecraft's protective tiles and ended with a hurry-up deorbit because of Hurricane Dean. But the crew worked smoothly, and Barbara operated the space shuttle's and the space station's robotic arms, served as Load Master, taught lessons to schoolchildren on Earth, and assisted the pilots with re-entry and landing.
Barbara had followed a unique path to become a NASA astronaut. While serving as a public school teacher, she was selected as backup to NASA's Teacher in Space Christa McAuliffe and trained with the Challenger space shuttle crew. After the Challenger accident, Barbara continued teaching while also working for NASA. She was selected to NASA's 1998 class of astronaut candidates, earning her wings in 2000.

While training, she also performed critical duties, such as Mission Control's prime communicator ("CapCom") with on-orbit crews, and worked for the Astronaut Office Robotics and Space Station Operations branches. She was assigned in 2002 to a space shuttle Columbia mission, but after the Columbia accident, she was reassigned to Endeavour for mission STS-118.

Barbara retired from NASA to serve as the Distinguished Educator in Residence (now Emeritus) at Boise State University, advising in policy and program development, and mentoring in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). She also continues her work with national and international education organizations, other non-profits, and NASA.

  • Must take place on a mutually agreed-upon date.
