I need your help in raising some money for a great cause in honour of an old friend, Anthony Micallef

Anthony came to my hometown of Haliburton, Ontario to live with the Claridge Family when he was 2 years old. He came for palliative care as he had Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a degenerative disease that affects the central nervous system. From a very young age, Anthony was in an electric wheelchair and was not expected to live out the year. But instead of going downhill he began to thrive. He went to school, traveled all over Canada, camped, swam, sailed, and was part of a Track 3 Skiing race team. He moved to Ottawa, Ontario and attended Carlton University and earned his Bachelor of Information Technology with honours. Despite his disability, Anthony stayed in Ottawa in his own apartment and started his own business designing aids for physically handicapped people. He freelanced for a number of companies and was on the board and played in a wheelchair hockey league. He never let his wheelchair slow him down or stop him from helping others.

Despite beating the odds and living way longer than anyone said he would, Anthony tragically passed away this past July. I grew up going to church and school with Anthony and was always amazed how smart, kind and joyful he was despite the challenges he faced. He was truly a special person who always had a smile on his face and left an impact on everyone who knew him

To honour the life Anthony lived, the Preds foundation and I are releasing these Duchene's Hockey Tonk hats with all profits being donated in Anthony's name to Cure SMA Canada and Tucker's House here in Nashville. The funds raised will accompany the additional funds raised by my Duchene's Hockey Tonk charity suite in Bridgestone Arena.
