In November 2022, the Clay Studio of Missoula acquired an additional classroom space, located at 1110 Hawthorne Street. The opportunity to expand our facility could not have come at a better time, as our primary classroom had reached maximum capacity due to the growth of our educational offerings over the past several years.
In addition, we received a grant from the Montana Office of Public Instruction to provide free after school programming to multiple public schools in Missoula County for the 2022/23 school year. Most of these classes are offered at the schools to make them easily accessible to the students who will benefit the most. However, all supplies are stored and projects are processed at The Clay Studio of Missoula, placing extra demand for space and equipment to support this important program that serves over one hundred K-8 students per session.
We are currently able to offer handbuilding based classes in the Clay Studio Annex and have acquired one kiln to help process all work that is created in Annex workshops and After School Programs. But in order to better support program demands and provide pottery wheel based workshops in this space, we are facing significant equipment expenses.
In order to obtain the equipment that will enable us offer the level of programming that The Clay Studio Annex has the potential to host, we need to raise $13500.
Meeting this critical goal will enable us to procure 10 wheels for the classroom, stools, and a second kiln that will be used to fire the work produced in our one day workshops, youth and outreach programs.
Any additional funds raised beyond equipment expenses for The Clay Studio Annex will go towards supporting our Outreach Program, providing free and affordable ceramics experiences to those who may lack access to opportunities in clay.
Support our efforts to outfit this important asset for our educational and outreach programs!
