This 'Barn Quilt' has been made to withstand outdoor weather. The board itself is MDO or Medium Density Overlay plywood. MDO is produced with a high-quality thermosetting resin-impregnated fiber surface bonded to both sides under heat and pressure to create an exterior-grade plywood panel. It is made to tolerate outside wind and moisture. It has been properly primed, painted and sealed with the intent of lasting many, many years.

A note from the artist: If the lucky buyer of this quilt is local to Clinton County, I will do my best to help seal the quilt when you hang it. I can paint over the nails or screws and then seal if you would like me to. The sealer is a water based sealer that will not yellow over time. If possible, it would probably be best if you seal the nail holes with the same sealer as already used to make sure it adheres to the rest.

In my Barn Quilt research, I have learned that many rural communities come together to display their quilts as part of
an American Barn Quilt Trail. The first quilt trail was established in Adams County Ohio in 2001, as a collection of quilts displayed within walking or small driving distances from one another, meant to serve as a tourist attraction. I have
hopes to start one in Southern Illinois.
