A Charles Halling Pottery Stoneware Vase Original Emphemera

Elegant Charles Halling Pottery Stoneware Slab Vase in Midcentury Modern Style.
- Excellent vintage condition.
- Signed: "HALLING" is incised on the bottom of the vase.
- Color - gray with broad brush strokes of amber and slate blue.
- Beautiful, whether filled with flowers or simply on display.
- Vase measures 13.5" tall and is 4.5" x 7" wide.
Charles Halling (1937-2006) was a well-known local and national potter who, with his wife, founded his studio in Northfield, MN, in 1971.
Halling's pieces were wheel thrown and hand built.
He received a BA from Concordia College with an emphasis in painting, then another BA in ceramics from the Kansas City Art Institute.
He studied under Ken Ferguson and Victor Babu and in 2005, he was awarded the Minnesota Craft Council's "Artist of Distinction Award", one year prior to his death.
