Students explored this year's BUILD hub topic by making ceramic luminary homes under the guidance of studio teacher Theresa Eppert. They began by locating a reference image on Google Earth and learning about the architecture of homes. They experimented with drawing the home and used that as a blueprint for clay construction.
Students learned about the six stages of clay. They experimented with tools and punches and recycled clay with the slam wedge process. Students worked three-dimensionally, rolling and building with clay slabs. They completed the process by applying a glaze.
Our JK-3rd grade students explored this year's BUILD hub topic by making simple ceramic votive homes with studio teacher Monica Moran. They learned about clay processes and experimented with tools to build the front of their house. They completed the process by applying a glaze.
