The winner of this boating excursion can bring up to six additional guests to enjoy a spectacular summer day aboard "The Merlin," a comfortable and spacious 34-foot Mainship Pilot Rum Runner, cruising the waters of the East River from the Long Island Sound down to New York City. Your host, and owner of the boat, is Captain Mike Wohn, a licensed professional captain, who has spent his entire life on the water. He will provide you with a fun and informative experience that may only come once-in-a lifetime.
Your trip will kick off from Throggs Neck, New York on the western Long Island Sound, where you will cruise past Kings Point, Long Island, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The Merlin will also bring you past historic Fort Totten and Fort Schuyler before you continue down the East River on your way to New York City. Along the East River, The Merlin will sail under the eight bridges that span the East River (can you name all of them?) with up-close views of exciting, historic landmarks such as LaGuardia Airport, Rikers Island, North Brother Island, Gracie Mansion and the United Nations Building. After passing under the Brooklyn Bridge, you will be wowed by the breathtaking views of Lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. After taking in the beautiful sights, you will make the return trip up the East River to the Long Island Sound and then, depending upon the time, you will finish your day with either lunch or dinner at the renowned Louie's Oyster Bar and Grille at Port Washington on Manhasset Bay, where you can enjoy cocktails and food on the water. The first $200 of your bill will be paid by your host!
