Last month, Doug found himself scared, alone, and severely injured near I-75 at the Athens Boonesboro exit. Kind people in the community spent weeks trying to catch him and bring him to LHS. Thankfully, our friends from LFACC were able to safely catch Doug and start him on his road to recovery and a new life.

Now at your LHS, Doug has already undergone multiple surgeries needed to address his significant injuries from being hit by a car, including a leg amputation and surgery to close the large opening in his skull. If Doug hadn't been rescued and brought to your LHS, he would not have survived. But fortunately, LHS was able to give him the medical care, love, and safe shelter he needed to recover.

Today, Doug is soaking up all of the attention he is receiving from our staff as he waits for a foster home. He greets us with a wagging tail and a smile. LHS staff veterinarian, Dr. Liz, says he has been a terrific patient and already has learned the "three-legged dog walk" with great balance.

Luckily, Doug is a survivor, and he's thriving, but so many other cats and dogs still need us and YOU. Please donate today in honor of Doug and so many animals with stories like his.
