Scott has been playing golf since he was 12 years old and learned the fundamentals of the game in a competitive junior program in Barrington, R.I.

He has been teaching in Austin since 1994.

He has also taught with the First Tee of Greater Austin. Scott has helped juniors compete in tournaments and retirees learn the game.

Scott coaches his students with easy-to-follow suggestions and analogies.

He focuses his teaching in the following areas:

1) Practice with a purpose and make practice a competition with your golf partner.

2) Use a mental checklist to help improve the student's positioning, ball contact and accuracy.

3) Briefly evaluate every shot to help reinforce good habits and help eliminate bad ones.

4) To instill confidence in the students so they are more confident as they prepare and execute the shot.

5) Swing goal: a complete follow-through while staying balanced.

6) To begin the back swing slowly while using both the left-side and right-side of the body.

7) To spend a significant amount of time teaching putting, pitching, chipping and sand shots.
