2015 Eisele Vineyard Syrah, and 2011 Mollydooker Velvet Glove Shiraz. Working with the Syrah grape, these two bottles, from Napa and from the Australian McLaren Valley reveal the sumptuousness of this varietal. The Eisele Vineyard in the northeast region of the Napa Valley was planted in the early 1970's, contracting grapes to legendary producers including Ridge and Conn Creek and Araujo. Now owned by the Pinnault family (owners of Chateau Latour), who are making this Syrah as well as a Cabernet Sauvignon. The Mollydooker Velvet Glove Shiraz has beautiful elegance, full of ripe fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a concentrated finish.
