In the American south, people were drinking mint juleps as early as 1770. Yes, that's 6 years before the Declaration of Independence. The mint julep is now most closely associated with the Kentucky Derby, where they, of course make it with bourbon. That is not you only choice, however. A gin julep is just as refreshing. This basket includes everything that you need to make your julep with either bourbon or gin. You need only add your own mint (spearmint is traditional, but use what you like).

This basket includes David Nicholson Reserve Bourbon 100 Proof (750 ml), Calamity Gin (750 ml), 8" stainless steel muddler and bar spoon, 2 Collins glasses, and box of sugar cubes (1 pound).
