OVID Napa Valley is a singular, dynamic, and continuous experiment in terroir, nestled at an elevation of 1,500 feet on a secluded mountaintop in the western reaches of Pritchard Hill. Here, iron-rich volcanic soils, abundant sunshine, and chaparral flora alchemize to reveal focused wines that celebrate their source. All four OVID estate wines are sourced from the winery's organically farmed 15-acre vineyard, planted in one-acre blocks with rootstock and clonal combinations of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Syrah.

Seeing less time on skins and a shorter maceration, the 2018 red blend is comprised of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot. Killer notes of blackcurrants, toasted spice, lead pencil, and loamy soil all emerge from this full-bodied beauty. With ripe, building tannins and expansive, layered, and flat-out stunning purity of fruit, this remarkable mountain wine will benefit from three to five years of bottle age and cruise for 30 years or more in cold cellars.
